Tandberg Television has appointed industry veteran Michael Adams as vice president of system architecture. The company said Adams' new role will leverage his 25-plus years of experience in overseeing the development of next-gen technologies for its customers.

"Michael has a unique set of experience(s) that spans hardware and software in both the cable and telco industries," said Braxton Jarratt, senior vice president of marketing and business development, Tandberg Television Inc. "He will be a tremendous asset to our organization and our customers as we continue to develop innovative technologies that are enabling next-generation television experiences."

Adams joins Tandberg Television in Atlanta from Terayon Communications Systems where he served as vice president of video architecture and technology. In this capacity, Adams was responsible for all aspects of architecture and technology relating to digital video. Prior to his tenure at Terayon, Adams also held senior positions at AOL, Road Runner and Time Warner Cable.

Adams has been granted eight patents in the digital video technology area. He is also the author of "OpenCable Architecture," which received the Cable Museum 2001 Book Award; and co-author of "Modern Cable Television Technology," which he contributed the chapters on digital video and home networking.
