Honduras adopts ATSC DTV standard

Honduras has adopted the ATSC DTV Standard for digital terrestrial TV broadcasting. The decision to adopt the ATSC Standard was made by the Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CONATEL) on Jan. 9, and became effective on Jan. 16.

ATSC DTV standards provide for numerous applications, HDTV, multiple simultaneous programs of SDTV, multichannel surround-sound digital audio and a variety of other data broadcasting and interactive services.
