Gefen ex-tend-it FireWire optical repeater transmits up to 500 meters

Any component or computer peripheral using an IEEE 1394 FireWire connection now can be connected and operated remotely. Gefen’s new ex-tend-it FireWire optical repeater effectively transmits the IEEE 1394 signal up to 500 meters using fiber optic cables terminated in an SC connection.

At IBC, Gefen will demonstrate the FireWire repeater that can be used with hard drives, printers, digital cameras, scanners and similar computer-driven devices at significant distances from the computer. When cascaded with a FireWire distribution hub, multiple FireWire devices can be extended using the same cable to transmit the IEEE 1394 signal.

See Gefen at IBC2003 in Stand 7.740 or visit www.gefen.com.
