EGT introduces high-density H.264 encoder

EGT has announced ALTO, the company’s new H.264/MPEG-4 video processing platform. ALTO’s technology and capabilities will be demonstrated at the upcoming IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam, at stand #4.260.

Leveraging EGT’s latest algorithms, ALTO allows operators to provide high-quality digital video at the lowest bit rates, thus improving bandwidth utilization by 50 percent while accelerating IPTV deployment and other advanced applications.

ALTO offers two channels of H.264 encoding in a 1RU chassis, with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. It also integrates ProMPEG FEC (Forward Error Correction) and simultaneous ASI and IP outputs.

ALTO is suitable for TV over DSL applications, allowing xDSL operators to provide television services over low bit rate networks. It also allows operators to deliver video services over flexible IP architectures. For backhaul, it allows users to transmit content between remote locations.
