Dielectric buys Brookstone Telecom

Broadcast antenna maker Dielectric Communications has acquired Brookstone Telecom, a company located in Temecula, Calif., that builds and maintains cell phone and wireless communications towers. Jay Martin, vice president of TV products at Dielectric, said the addition of Brookstone Telecom will broaden its wireless service offerings and give it an important West Coast presence.

In addition to building communication towers, Brookstone has provided on-site services to the wireless telecom industry for many years. Dielectric plans to steer the company into the broadcast area as well.

Art Nelson, vice president at Brookstone Telecom, will continue in his role. "We welcome this opportunity to add our strengths and professional service offerings to a company with the outstanding reputation of Dielectric," he said.

The wireless communications industry, which relies on a series of small (under 300 feet) towers to distribute cell phones and other data, is an area that Dielectric has committed significant resources to. In 2001, the company acquired the assets of Central Tower, which builds similar structures on the East Coast and is based in Newburgh, Ind.

Dielectric Communications is one of the nation's largest broadcast antenna systems, communication towers, lighting, and signal processing equipment manufacturers. The company offers complete system monitoring, maintenance and service to the broadcast and wireless markets.
