Commission reinstates previous broadcast station application in response to court order
September 16, 2003
The FCC announced Sept. 10 that the Media Bureau was lifting the freeze it temporarily imposed on accepting broadcast station applications following the U.S. Court of Appeals decision to stay commission rules relaxing media ownership restrictions.
Immediately following the decision of the Court of Appeals for Third Circuit in Philadelphia, the FCC froze the filing of certain broadcast station applications and amendments.
The lifting of the freeze is designed to comply with the court’s order requiring the commission to process broadcast station applications under the previous ownership rules.
The Media Bureau issued a public notice announcing that the prior versions of Forms 301, 314 and 315 will be available and effective upon publication of the notice in the Federal Register.
