Cidana, Siano debut mobile DVB-T reception platform

Cidana and Siano Mobile Silicon at IBC2007 unveiled a new platform for enabling DVB-T signal reception on mobile devices. The solution combines Cidana’s DVB-T player with Siano’s integrated SMS1010 mobile TV receiver.

The Cidana DVB-T player can present a live DVB-T signal with D1 resolution and 25fps-quality video, while the Siano SMS1010 enables high quality mobile DVB-T reception for more than three hours of playback without recharging the battery and without regards to antenna size. The companies are targeting the platform at mobile device makers looking to add mobile TV to their feature lists, especially in markets where DVB-T and/or DAB is available as a free-to-air service.

The platform is the first of a range of mobile TV applications the two companies have partnered to develop.
