Chryon goes interactive with Cool TV

Chyron and Global Interactive Solutions’ Cool TV will offer a wide range of interactive television services. The target market is North American broadcasters and advertisers using mobile phone text messaging and Chyron graphics hardware.

Some typical mobile interactive applications include opinion polls, group chat rooms, trivia challenges, contests, information services and direct marketing.

By utilizing Cool TV’s SMS-based mobile phone text messaging platform and Chyron’s CAL API graphics engine run by Duet LEXs that allow for dynamic, data-driven updates, this business model bypasses gatekeeper cable and satellite providers.

Cool TV services and software, along with Chyron hardware, are already serving South American broadcasters and advertisers in Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. In the past five months, Cool TV has generated nearly $1.3 million in total revenue. Chyron/Cool TV’s U.S. launch is scheduled to occur this year.
