CBS buys finance Web site

CBS has purchased Wallstrip, a startup online company. The company’s Web site and video blog focus on the stock market. The site’s content is a mix of humor and daily financial news.

News reports said CBS will use the acquisition to increase its business news assets after the sale of MarketWatch to Dow Jones.

Wallstrip will retain a separate identity. CBS will work with the creator of Wallstrip.com to develop Internet programs and information that can be sent to mobile phones and other devices.
