BUF, Fast Forward Video offer compact replay system for sports

As an integral part of the BUF’s Sport system, the Fast Forward Video's Recon ultra-compact DVR board enables high-quality video capture and playback at 60fps, with resolution greater than 550 lines at 4:1 compression, and compression ratios ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.

BUF Technology has integrated Fast Forward Video’s Recon ultra-compact DVR board into its new integrated replay system for sports production.

BUF’s Sport is a compact instant-replay system that, with help from the miniature Recon, can capture and play out broadcast quality content. The Recon provides all the electronics required for a broadcast-quality DVR on a board measuring 2.8x3.9in.

With fully integrated Motion JPEG compression capability, Sport operators can perform high-quality video capture and playback at 60fps, resolution greater than 550 lines at 4:1 compression, and compression ratios ranging from 4:1 to 20:1.

Recon features include analog composite and Y/C outputs for NTSC and PAL; slow motion playback; and RS-232 or RS-422 control. Optional features include two channels of unbalanced analog audio; SMPTE/EBU longitudinal time-code input and output; genlock; chase lock; GPI inputs; date/time stamping; and slow motion; time-lapse; and loop record.
