Bryan Tramont named new FCC Chief of Staff
FCC Chairman Michael Powell has appointed Bryan Tramont as the commission’s new chief of staff. Tramont previously served as Powell’s senior legal advisor.
Tramont replaces Marsha MacBride, who had served in the position since Powell became chairman in 2001, and who announced last week she was stepping down from the job “to pursue new opportunities.”
Before joining the FCC, Tramont was an attorney with the communications law firm of Wiley Rein and Fielding. He also clerked for the Judge Duane Benton on the Supreme Court in his home state of Missouri.
Tramont currently is an adjunct law professor at the Catholic University of America. In addition, he serves on the executive committee of the Federal Communications Bar Association, and was awarded the organization’s Distinguished Service Award. He is a graduate of the George Washington University and the Yale Law School.
