Autodesk re-brands Discreet division

Autodesk has renamed its Discreet division the Autodesk Media and Entertainment division. The new division will be headquartered in Montreal, Canada, where Discreet has been based since Autodesk acquired it in 1999.

While the existing sales, support and product development teams will remain intact; Autodesk’s Consulting group will now target media and entertainment too.

A number of the existing Discreet products — including inferno, flame, flint, fire, smoke and lustre — will now be managed by Autodesk’s advanced systems’ products team and be called Discreet inferno, Discreet smoke‚ etc.

The former Autodesk software and infrastructure products, such as 3D Studio Max, combustion, cleaner and stone are now called Autodesk 3ds max, Autodesk Combustion, Stone Shared, etc.
