Arrowhead Pond Arena to upgrade control room to HD

Arrowhead Pond Arena, home of the NHL’s Anaheim Mighty Ducks, will spend more than $1 million to rebuild its control room to make the transition to HDTV.

Venue Services Group, VSG has secured the contract with the arena to revamp the existing control room that feeds the arena scoreboard, and update the audio and video production equipment necessary to make the transition, and improve the overall technical quality of the arena’s productions.

As part of the contract, VSG will install SMPTE fiber to nine camera areas within the arena that are similar to runs the company has completed at the Fleet Center and Fenway Park in Boston, MA.

VSG will provide full system design and integration. Work is scheduled for completion in August in time for the start of the 2004-05 NHL season.
