World Cup: Fujinon HD Lenses Tapped for Mobile Units

Fujinon said it will wind up providing more than a hundred HD lenses to the mobile truck companies covering the World Cup in Germany starting next month.

The quadrennial event will feature 64 international matches at a dozen German stadiums to be entirely aired in HD by many of the 180 broadcasters currently licensed to broadcast the official video/audio pool feeds. Those feeds reportedly will be solely produced by Host Broadcast Services (HBS) for the official sponsoring body, Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

The Fujinon HD lenses to be used by mobile production vans situated adjacent to the stadiums (for non-pool supplemental feature video) will include: nearly two dozen HA13x4.5BERD-S; ten HA22x7.8BERDs; two HA18x7.6BERDs; four HA26X6.7BESMs; two HA42x9.7BERDs; and one HA26x6.7BESM with Fujinon's proprietary Precision Focus Assist technology.

HBS official match feeds will be produced in 1080i/50. Mobile companies at the dozen venues will include ABC-TV of the U.S., Studio Berlin Adlershof and WIGE-TV of Germany, Visual TV of France and Media Pro of Spain.
