Triveni Digital is partnering with public TV station WXXI, the City of Rochester (N.Y.) Fire Department and the Department of Homeland Security to create a region-wide first responder training and information service.
The data broadcasting network, known as the Emergency Training and Information Network (ETIN), is designed to provide a secure wireless wideband delivery system for training, operational and emergency alert information to designated first responder locations. It will be carried via the WXXI digital stream and can be received within a 75-mile radius of Rochester. Initial deployment will involve more than 100 emergency services locations, including police and fire departments, the Monroe County health department and area hospitals.
With the system, receive sites will have access to constantly updated information on emergency alerts, information bulletins, weather reports, Homeland Security threat information and a library of training manuals, consisting of both printed material and electronic recordings. The system supports live video and play-out of recordings from play lists.
Triveni's SkyScraper Emergency Services Network (ESN) technology is being used to create the Rochester system. ESN can deliver informational content via satellite, cable and terrestrial transmission systems.
