Tribune Purchases Avid Systems

Tribune Broadcasting which owns 26 major-market television stations, has purchased multiple Avid broadcast systems for its publishing, interactive and broadcasting units. The sale includes Avid Unity LANshare and NewsCutter Adrenaline FX systems. Tribune plans to standardize its media storage and nonlinear editing processes on Avid and immediately implement the new Avid systems at WATL in Atlanta and KTLA in Los Angeles.

Newscutter Adrenaline will be used for editing promotions and news content that is shared and managed with Avid Unity LANshare systems. Ira Goldstone, the company's chief technology officer, said, "LANshare is a great fit for Tribune. NewsCutter Adrenaline FX now has all the functionality of a Media Composer, plus the news features we need."
