Thomson Grass Valley Gear Covers the PGA

This weekend’s PGA Championship—the year’s final golf grand slam event—is being captured by NEP SuperShooters, using Thomson Grass Valley gear.

NEP is sending several SD/HD mobile units to Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Township, Mich. for the 90th PGA Championship. The mobile production company is covering the event for The Golf Channel and several international broadcasters.

One of the units, the SS28, features 11 LDK 6000 mkII WorldCam HD cameras, a Kalypso HD video production switcher, as well as a Trinix HD router and Concerto Series SD/HD router, along with signal conversion gear. The SS28 will be used to cover The Golf Channel’s live 1080i HD coverage of the PGA festivities.

NEP’s SS19 truck is also on-site. It features a Kalypso HD production switcher and 10 LDK 6000 mkII WorldCam HD cameras and will be used to cover for the UK’s Sky Sports network. A third truck, the NEP SS12, a standard definition production truck, will use a Kalypso SD production switcher to provide the world feed for international broadcasters.
