TF1 France adds twin SSL consoles

Solid State Logic (SSL) has sold two C100 HD-S digital broadcast consoles and a full-scale SSL MORSE system, to French broadcaster TF1. The new consoles are being incorporated into TF1's tapeless production centre at its headquarters in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris.

TF1 has also invested in SSL's Modular Resource Sharing Engine (MORSE) for audio I/O sharing and managing related control data between multiple studio floors and control rooms. The installation features seven MORSE stageboxes fitted with numerous I/Os, including 54 SDI HD cards, and a MORSE router configured with up to 38 MADI ports.

TF1's Production Manager, Hervé Pavard said: "TF1 is one of the first major terrestrial HD broadcasters on the air in Europe, and the Solid State Logic consoles are ideal for delivering the quality of sound, both stereo and 5.1, that HD viewers now expect. As the number of our HD broadcasts continue to increase over the coming years, so too will our need to ensure that they are managed with the best possible sound quality.

"One of the numerous advantages of SSL consoles is that their control surfaces are familiar and uncluttered, even when handling complex 5.1 set ups. We've also been impressed by the high degree of security, with the benefits of a fully redundant architecture and fully redundant processors for both the SSL consoles and the SSL MORSE resource sharing system."
