Syntax-Brillian said this week it has agreed to team up with Solar Link Technologies (a subsidiary of Taiwan-based Pro Chen Group) to assemble a full line of Olevia brand LCD and LCoS sets at a production facility in Ontario, Calif.
Assembly is set to begin later this month on Olevia 3, 5 and 7 Series LCD units, with LCoS assembly to start up in September. The Ontario facility is expected to produce up to 200,000 sets annually (depending on screen sizes) for distribution mostly throughout North America. A majority of the units are expected to be HD grade.
Syntax-Brillian, based in Tempe, Ariz., said its new American assembly lines will be co-managed by Solar Link, and it expects its new West Coast production will be more efficient because of anticipated cost cuts for shipping and import duties.
