Scripps Networks Pick Pilat for Upgrade

Pilat Media has announced that Scripps Networks has selected the Pilat IBMS broadcast management system to replace an in-house system previously in use at five of Scripps operations.

DIY Network Fine Living Network, Food Network, Great American Country and HGTV have all transitioned to the IMBS system as part of a five year plan for transitioning to a file-based operation. It is handling standardized scheduling and management functions for the networks. “By moving from an in-house developed system to IBMS, we can focus on our core strengths and enjoy the benefits of a unified system with streamlined workflow in areas like reporting — which is now much more efficient than before,” said Chuck Hurst, Scripps Networks Interactive vice president of systems development. “IBMS integrates the databases within our file-based structure, automates the sharing and updating of information on metadata and inventory management, and eliminates data-entry duplication.”

The five Scripps operations comprise both SD and HD channels and the IBMS package included customized functionalities to make sure that all of the assets are available in the correct format.
