Satellite Update—Jan. 30, 2009
January 30, 2009
From FCC Report SAT-00575.
● ViaSat applied for authority to change certain telemetry, tracking and control carrier frequencies on its authorized Ka-band satellite at 77.3 degrees west longitude within the authorized Ka-frequency band. ViaSat also requested waiver of FCC rules requiring it to provide cross-polarization isolation information.
● Intelsat North America LLC requested modification of its license for Intelsat 706 to operate the spacecraft at 54.85 degrees east longitude (EL), rather than at its currently assigned 50.25 degree EL orbital location. Intelsat expects to commence drifting the Intelsat 706 to the 54.85 degree EL location in March 2009 and to begin operating it at that location soon after it’s moved.
