Rogers TV Deploys Volicon Observer Digital Video Monitoring

Canadian cable operator Rogers Television is installing the Volicon Observer at its facilities in Toronto. Burlington, Mass.-based Volicon describes the Observer as "a high-performance video monitoring solution that allows customers to perform advanced monitoring and video logging applications from ordinary desktop computers."

"Based on our wide range of system options, we were able to customize an Observer system to meet Rogers Television's specific needs," said Eli Warsawski, president and CEO of Volicon.

The Observer system's modular architecture makes live or archived data instantly available over a LAN or via the Internet using Microsoft Explorer. It features a metadata search function that allows users to find clips based on key words in closed captioning data. The system also enables users to overlay ratings information in real time during playback.
