Longtime HD director and producer Randall Dark this month ramped up his own company, Randall Dark Productions, which he will fully own. Besides the Los Angeles market, Dark plans to expand the new company to Austin, Texas, within the next several months, Dark said in a statement.
Dark's interest in HD technology started more than 20 years ago when he began working in HD on a mini-series being shot in Toronto. Dark later founded HD Vision in 1992 in New York. Widely considered a pioneer and effective promoter of HD (especially over the course of many years when the technology appeared to be at a standstill), Dark later launched HD Vision Studios in 2002 (and relocated to Los Angeles from Dallas).
