NBC Using Pinnacle Gear to Delivers Olympics Graphics

NBC Olympics has expanded its use of Pinnacle's broadcast graphics tools for the summer games by purchasing seven more Deko character generators and two more Thunder servers from the Mountain View, Calif.-based company. This is the fourth consecutive Olympics that NBC has used Pinnacle's networked workflow for live graphics.

"Pinnacle Deko character generators and Thunder servers enable NBC Olympics to orchestrate scores, clocks, breaking news, stunning visual effects plus thousands of clips and stills in a way that captures billions of eyes worldwide," said Phil Paully, director, graphics engineering and operations for NBC Olympics.

This is the first Olympics where NBC has aired the events in high definition. NBC Universal networks will provide continuous coverage of the Athens Olympics including NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, USA, Bravo, and broadcast in Spanish by Telemundo. The HD and SD broadcasts both access the same database of graphics images.
