NAB2006: ShibaSoku Debuts HD Flat-Panel Tester

ShibaSoku, a developer of broadcast test equipment, demonstrated its new TG45AX in Las Vegas -- a multi-test signal generator with HD support, designed to meet the testing requirements of the industry's newest flat-panel displays. The new system supports up to 26 formats including SDTV, NTSC, NTSC4.43, PAL, PAL-60, 525p and 625p, according to the firm, as well as 1035i, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

Supporting an image up to 12 bits, the Taiwanese company's test generator reportedly subjectively evaluates the displayed video with more than 20 line-ups to judge the integrity of HD and lesser formats on flat-panels. Test results can be viewed as either VBS and GBR signals, or YCBCR and S-VHS (YC).

The range of evaluation parameters includes level, frequency and phase variables that can be adjusted according to the specific requirements of various testing environments.

The TG45AX also includes support for analog RF-output for global signal testing from a single unit. (Certain models in the TG45AX series are equipped with SD/HD-SDI or HDMI output options.)
