DVC (DigitalVideo Computing GmbH) will have its new Single Channel HD Disk Recorder available for demos on the NAB show floor. Firms such as Tandberg Television will feature several of DVC's disk recorders at their respective booths. The new HD disk recorder is an open system HD Workstation for uncompressed capture, storage and playback of HD material in 8- and 10-bit quality.
DVC's HD recorders can also be used for color correction, non-linear editing and compositing. The Workstation Rack includes a new generation of multi-standard HD I/O boards with 8 or 10-bit YCbCr or RGBA frame buffer. Files captured by the HD Disk Recorder are stored on a NTFS (native file system). The files can be immediately accessed by any open system application, according to the Herrsching, Germany-based company. The HD recorder supports QuickTime, .avi, Windows Media 9, TIFF, Targa, Cineon and DPX.
For Tandberg Television, the addition of the new DVC HD unit complements its 4-channel SD Disk recorder and a dual-channel HD Disk Recorder. At NAB, Tandberg will be in the South Hall (Booth SU7858) to show its HD solutions, including encoding systems for MPEG-4 AVC and Windows Media 9.
