Miranda Helps Washington, D.C. Local Cable TV Group Upgrade to HD
December 29, 2006
Washington D.C.-based system integrator Mason Media Group has ordered four Kaleido-X multi-image signal processor/router units from Miranda Technologies for use within the District of Columbia's Office of Cable Television and Telecommunications. Mason Media is collaborating with the OCTT in a high-definition facilities upgrade.
The Kaleido-X processors will provide 224 video inputs and 32 outputs for use in connection with multi-image display monitoring at OCTT.
"The Kaleido-X's will monitor just about everything in the facility, which we designed to be as versatile as possible," said Edward Brancaccio, chief technology officer at Mason Media. "We can assign any source anywhere on the monitoring walls, multiple times and at any size--even full screen--without worrying about bandwidth limitations of the multi-image processor."
Mason Media is also providing methodology for accessing the multiple image display outputs via the Web. This remote monitoring capability is constructed around the Miranda Allegro product, which combines encoder and server functions to allow streaming of audio, video and data over standard IP networks.
The new technology will allow display of SD, HD or analog inputs across eight displays in any resolution and without blocking or grouping restrictions. The multi-image processing is performed without compression, providing high-quality display of on-screen graphics.
