Michelle P. Connolly has been named by FCC Chairman Kevin Martin to her second tenure as chief economist of the FCC. She was also chief economist in 2006 and 2007.
Connolly has been a member of the Economics faculty at Duke University, where Martin earned a master's degree.
Connolly is an expert in the fields of international trade, growth and development, and telecommunications, according to the FCC. Her research interests include the impacts of technological progress and diffusion, international trade, and human capital on growth and development. She currently serves as the director of EcoTeach and associate professor of the practice at Duke University. She has taught advanced graduate macroeconomics and international trade, intermediate undergraduate macroeconomics, and an honors research workshop.
She co-authored a report Economics at the Federal Communications Commission 2006-2007 that includes an analysis of revenue from spectrum auctions.
Connolly received her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D from Yale.
