Global Hyatt Corp. has designated LodgeNet as sole provider of interactive TV and HD services for Global Hyatt's new upscale select service brand dubbed "Hyatt Place."
Under the agreement, LodgeNet will install a Hyatt Place branded, digital-to-the-room HD service in slightly more than 80 properties currently owned or managed by Global Hyatt, as well as future Hyatt Place properties (none of which have been built yet).
Each high-end Hyatt Place will be equipped with its own onsite LodgeNet system for delivery of HD broadcast, premium DBS, and VOD motion pictures, (some of them available while they are still in theaters). LodgeNet already provides HD, VOD and interactive services to several other major hotel chains in North America.
The first Hyatt Place property will open later this summer in Lombard, near Chicago, both firms said in a statement.
