Japanese Mobile Operators Initiate TV Service

BBC News reported that digital TV is now available in Japan for subscribers that have mobile phones capable of receiving it. The BBC report said test transmissions have been available for several months and that, for now, the service will remain free while mobile operators assess its potential.

Mobile phone companies have signed partnerships with broadcasters Nippon Television, Fuji Television and TV Asahi and are looking for new content for the service when more channels become available.
