HD World: Harris Intros New HD Test Tools

Harris is showing some of it new product lines this week at HD World 2008 in New York City, including new advanced monitoring applications such as its 3 Gbps video-input module for its Videotek VTM and TVM series of test instruments. The tools are designed to enable monitoring of progressively scanned high frame-rate formats, including 1080p. According to Harris, its Videotek AVM-717-3GB is more space-efficient than earlier models and self-contained for testing and measurement.

For lower-cost HD monitoring, Harris has added the TVM-4DG HD waveform monitor/vectorscope for monitoring HD-SDI and SD-SDI signals in a half-rack scope package.

For portable testing needs, its Videotek Star line of hand-held tools include the HD-Star HD/SD-SDI monitor/generator (for use by cable field technicians, among others) and ASI-Star—featuring transport stream-monitoring of DVB-ASI or SMPTE-310M, for compliance to ETR-290 priority 1 specs with error counting.

HD World 2008 is being held through today (Oct. 15-16) at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Harris is located at Booth 915. The conference was predicting it could have record attendance.
