Globecast Acquires Additional Eurobird Space

Globecast has acquired new transponder capacity on the Eurobird satellite for broadcast access to the Sky platform in the United Kingdom.

The capacity was acquired through an agreement with satellite operator, Astra, and will provide access for a growing number of broadcasters wishing to target the 8 million Sky viewers.

"Demand for capacity on Eurobird has been exceptionally high, so we’re thrilled to have an agreement with Astra, which allows us to keep up with the channels’ needs," said Juliet Bayliss, GlobeCast broadcast services director.

The GlobeCast platforms on Eurobird are accessible to radio and television broadcasters on five continents via the company’s ATM fiber network, which interconnects 15 teleports and worldwide technical operations centers. The company manages and transports 10 million hours of content yearly.
