FOR-A Selected to Outfit ABC HD Mobile Unit

ABC has selected FOR-A Corp. of America's HANABI HVS-1000HS multiformat, one M/E digital switcher, for the network's first mobile production unit. The HD mobile unit recently completed its initial voyage when it kicked off its career on May 26 with the "Good Morning America" broadcast.

The HANABI HVS-1000HS is a compact 2 RU and supports 1080i, 24p, 720p, and SD formats. One DVE card comes pre-installed on the HVS-1000HS, and an additional optional DVE card can be added. The switcher comes standard with eight inputs, and can be configured for up to 16 inputs. Four still pictures can be stored in frame memory and the HVS-1000HS features five standard outputs (2 PGM, PVW, AUX and Input PVW). It is optionally expandable to seven outputs. One channel of key is also standard.

"We're thrilled to be such an integral part of the network's first HD truck," said FOR-A Corp. Sales Manager for the Eastern Region Hiro Tanoue, "ABC's demanding newsgathering applications require a proven HD/SD platform with exceptional image quality. The HANABI HVS-1000HS' small size and intuitive operating system make it ideal for ABC's requirements."

The mobile production unit will be deployed for the "Good Morning America" program's remote coverage, including its summer concert series running through the end of August.
