FCC to Consider DTV Build-Out Extensions at Open Meeting

In the Meeting Agenda for the Oct. 16, 2003 Open Commission Meeting the FCC said it would consider stations' requests for extension of their May 1, 2002 deadline for construction of their DTV facilities. In the FCC's Fifth Report and Order establishing the DTV service, it allowed up to two extensions to be granted by delegated authority. For many stations, these extensions ended May 1, 2003. Under the Fifth Report and Order, any further extensions have to be granted by the commissioners.

The FCC will also consider a Report and Order for service rules for advanced wireless services in the 1.7 GHz and 2.1 GHz bands and a Report and Order concerning the allocation, band plan and service rules in the 71-76 GHz, 81-86 GHz and 92-95 GHz bands.
