Dzuban Takes SCTE Helm

Mark L. Dzuban, a 41-year cable industry veteran, has been named president and CEO of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers. He will start Feb. 2.

Dzuban comes to SCTE from Cedar Point Communications, where he served as vice chairman and as executive vice president for strategic accounts. He began at Cedar Point in 2001 and pioneered the development of cable telephony switching technology.

John Clark was SCTE’s president and CEO from 1998 until July 2008. SCTE Vice President for Professional Development Marv Nelson has been serving as SCTE’s interim president and CEO.

Dzuban began his cable career in 1968 as a design engineer for Vikoa and advanced to executive leadership positions in which he constructed and operated networks in the United States and abroad.

He worked at AT&T from 1991 to 2000, first as member of the Bell Labs Technical Staff. He was the Bell Labs representative to CableLabs from 1992 to 1997 and was promoted to senior vice president of AT&T Broadband Telephony Operations and Engineering, continuing to play a key role in the development of cable telephony, helping create the foundation of AT&T Broadband.
