BBC World recently chose systems from Dalet and Autoscript for its new Arabic-language global channel, which is scheduled to begin broadcasting this autumn.
The DaletPlus News Suite will handle ingest, media asset management and production tasks for BBC Arabic Television channel at the refurbished Broadcasting House in London. The €1.8 million installation will give 80 journalists access to desktop editing tools and seamless digital archiving.
Autoscript prompting systems, including 17-inch on-air monitors and ClockPlus LED SMPTE/EBU time code displays.
When operative, the new channel, the first publicly funded global TV service from the BBC, will broadcast in Arabic to 22 countries across the Middle East. The new channel is part of a £30 million restructuring of the BBC World Service.
"The coming BBC Arabic Television channel will be a true multimedia operation that will span content across television, radio, and BBC interactive services," said Jerry Timmins, Head of Africa and Middle East Region at the BBC World Service.
