CTAM: Pace Bows Multi-room HD DVR
October 28, 2009
Pace unveiled a new home DVR storage configuration this week that allows multi-room DVR recording and playback using a single unit that serves as a central depository for content.
The Pace box, in effect, provides the equivalent of a dual-tuner HD DVR function for each every cable-connected HD set in a household. Pace premiered its new product at the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing conference (CTAM) in Denver earlier this week (Oct. 25-27).
The device, according to Pace, acts as a central storage depot for multiple (non-DVR) set-top boxes to access shared recorded content, using the firm’s proprietary NAS (Network Attached Storage) technology. NAS supports up to nine simultaneous HD streams, and has the ability to record six HD programs at the same time.
Some features include a bookmarking option (to continue watching in another room), an organized folders system of storage, and a "bulk delete" option.
