The Corporation for Public Broadcasting recently awarded $12 million in grants to 26 public television stations and multistation collaborations to support their transition to digital broadcasting.
The grants are part of $45 million Congress has earmarked to assist public broadcasters with the transition. CPB will award most of the money by this October, and is taking applications for a second round of funding to end in August. Prospective recipients must demonstrate how the digital transmission infrastructure will be used to provide new or additional public services, particularly educational and rural broadband services.
