Cordillera Automates with Harris, Taps Leitch for Transmission

Cordillera Communications is centralizing and updating broadcast gear for some of its TV stations.

The Duluth, Minn.-based owner of 11 TV stations has selected Harris automation for a centralization project in Montana and for stations in California and Colorado. Cordillera is creating a central "hub" at KXLF, a full-power station in Butte, Montana. At the hub, content will be ingested, prepared and distributed to another full-powered station, KBZK in Bozeman and a low-power station, KXLH in Helena. At KOAA in Colorado Springs, Harris will upgrade an ADC system to automate playout of an independent weather channel.

Cordillera has also has selected Leitch Nexio servers for KOAA, KVOA in Tucson, Ariz. and KSBY in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Andy Suk, director of engineering, Cordillera Communications said that the company chose the Leitch systems in part, because of its after-sales support.
"When you're dealing with 11 stations, it's the ability to get consistent, immediate support that really makes a difference," he said.
