Clear Channel Multicasts With VCI

Clear Channel Broadcasting has selected VCI Solutions' Orion traffic, sales, accounting and management tool to help launch Clear Channel's new multicast channel, Variety TV (VTV).

Clear Channel Broadcasting operates the new channel from KOKI's technical operation center in Tulsa, Okla.

"With Orion, we have the flexibility to evolve the channel while operating at maximum productivity and efficiency," said Michael DeClue, senior vice president, television; director of engineering; director of technology, Clear Channel Wireless. "When creating a new channel like VTV, it is imperative to have the proper technology running seamlessly in the background. We found that with VCI's Orion."

Operated out of the technical center at KOKI, Clear Channel's Fox affiliate in Tulsa, Okla., Variety TV is a new 24/7 mulicasting channel with affiliates in Albany and Syracuse, N.Y.; Bakersfield, and Fresno, Calif.; Little Rock Ark.; Jacksonville, Fla. and Memphis, Tenn. It was established to allow local stations to build up in-house capability to generate their own programming. Stations taking VTV feeds are encouraged to begin using local content to replace national programming.
