Amimon, a firm specializing in semiconductor technology for HD wireless transmission, has released what it calls a WHDI (Wireless High-Definition Interface) development kit.
The gear enables the development of wireless TV sets and wireless projectors using the WHDI technology to provide a universal wireless, uncompressed HD link, according to the company.
WHDI supports delivery of uncompressed 1080p (with equivalent video rates of up to 3 GB) in a 40 MHz channel in the 5 GHz unlicensed band, in compliance with FCC regulations. Also, uncompressed 720p and 1080i (with equivalent video rates of up to 1.5 GB) can be delivered in a 20 MHz channel, conforming to worldwide 5 GHz regulations. The firms said its wireless link is encrypted and its range has been demonstrated beyond 100 feet, through walls. Latency is less than 1 ms.
The WHDI technology is being demonstrated at various CES sites this week, including Amimon's suite at the Las Vegas Hilton (HC1830), the Sanyo booth in the Central Hall (11017), and ED Digital's booth in South Hall 1 (21802).
