Digital Theater System (DTS) will premiere DTS-HD Master Audio for HD media at next week's CES2006 in Las Vegas. It will mark the firm's first public demonstration of HD video content shown in conjunction with 7.1 discrete channels of surround sound that is identical to a master soundtrack (North Hall Room, LVCC, Room N242).
DTS-HD Master Audio (previously named simply "DTS-HD") has been selected as an option in the standards for the upcoming Blu-ray and HD DVD media formats. DTS's demo will be presented in 1080p and includes clips of movies and music videos seen and heard for the first time in this type of surround sound/1080p configuration, the company said in a statement.
DTS-HD Master Audio is an extension of Coherent Acoustics, the digital codec upon which all DTS audio technologies are based. DTS said it plans to introduce a variety of HD players and A/V receivers in 2006 from major manufacturers.
