CBS Television Partners With TiVo in New Programming Delivery Venture

CBS Television has announced that it plans to enter into a partnership with TiVo to launch a fall television show delivered exclusively to TiVo subscribers.

The innovation will allow TiVo's subscribers to view CBS fall line up exclusives before the material is aired to the general viewing audience.

"CBS's partnership with TiVo is a creative new way to use DVR technology to help drive television network viewing," said George Schweitzer, president of the CBS Marketing Group. "Our goal is to introduce our fresh new comedy 'The Class' about a group of 20-somethings who met in the third grade and whose lives become bound together to a broad, diversified, receptive audience that has the ability to start trends and generate buzz, which is exactly what TiVo offers."

"The Class" will be made available to TiVo subscribers on Sept. 11, one week before the show's full network premiere. In addition, TiVo homes will be able to view clips from, and receive exclusive footage and information on, three other CBS new shows.

"We're thrilled to be able to introduce this ground-breaking innovation to the industry while at the same time providing our subscribers with exclusives that no else can match," Tom Rogers, TiVo's CEO said.

TiVo claims 4.4 million subscribers.
