FCC Commissioner Michael J. Copps announced Paul Margie, his Spectrum and International Legal Advisor, will leave the Commission to serve as Senior Director for Technology Partnerships at the United Stations Foundation. John Giusti has been detailed to Commissioner Copps office to assist him in handling spectrum and international issues.
Commissioner Copps commented on Paul Margie's departure and new responsibility: "In my mind, Paul personifies public service at its best. His creative intelligence, practical good judgment and never-wavering commitment to the public interest have contributed immeasurably to good public policy outcomes. I am grateful for his work and for his always cooperative and engaging demeanor. Paul turns now from bringing the wonders of modern telecommunications to citizens of our country to bringing these essential tools to people around the world. All of us in the Copps office wish him well in this profoundly important work, and we look forward to our continuing warm friendship with this remarkable young man."
Mr. Giusti is currently Assistant Bureau Chief at the International Bureau. Commissioner Copps welcomed him to his office: "I am delighted that this outstanding public servant has agreed to join my office. He has served as the FCC's senior negotiator in numerous international negotiations, delivering results that have benefited American consumers, companies and the public safety community. His expertise across a broad range of issues at the Commission will be invaluable as we address the many challenges facing the FCC."
