Canon Appoints New President/CEO

Canon U.S.A. has selected Yoroku Adachi as its new president/CEO and managing director of the company's board of directors.

Outgoing President/CEO Kinya Uchida will return to the company's Tokyo headquarters where he will serve as advisor. Uchida has been the president since 1999 and during his leadership the company's sales and revenues grew 16 percent.

Adachi--who joined Canon, Inc. in 1970--is looking forward to his new assignments.

"I will work tirelessly to continue to expand on Canon U.S.A's offerings, portfolio of services and relationships with dealers and customers," he said.

Adachi worked for Canon U.S.A. from 1978 through 1992 and returned to Canon, Inc. in 1993 when he was named general manager of the photo products marketing management division.

In 2001, he was appointed president and CEO of Canon China and Canon Hong Kong as well as Chairman of Canon Singapore. Sales, in 2004, in Asia increased 61 percent, according to the company.
