Boston’s TD Banknorth Garden Uses Ikegami HD Cameras

The TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, home of the Boston Celtics and Bruins, is now using Ikegami HDK-75EX portable high-definition cameras to capture images for the venue’s multimillion dollar large-screen television display.

“The look of Ikegami cameras on our Mitsubishi HD Diamond Vision screen is absolutely stunning,” said John Mitchell, audio/video director at TD Banknorth Garden. “The performance is amazing, achieving a crisp picture even in low-light conditions. And now that our workflow is completely digital, our Ikegami cameras have made life much easier for our in-house editors.”

Mitchell said another reason the Ikegami cameras were selected is reliability.

“The cameras are holding up in the line of fire,” Mitchell said. “We’re constantly running around the court, grabbing player interviews, grabbing fan shots, or getting around the Celtic Dancers, and we’ve had zero significant issues.”

The HDK-75EX features an integrated fiber-optic adaptor which enables high quality high-definition video to be sent over longer distances than copper, an important advantage in sports venues. The image delivery and editing systems installed at TD Banknorth Garden are designed to ensure that the highest quality video appears on the big screen 360-degree display installed there.
