San Francisco-based public broadcaster KQED has signed a $1 million deal for a multi-channel automation control system from Harris' Broadcast Communications Division.
Harris' Automation Solutions Windows-based control system, which controls up to seven broadcast channels, can be configured for any broadcast operation and provide control for most types of devices through a LAN, WAN and TCP/IP network.
KQED says it chose Harris because it will need increased channel control due to additional digital children's and educational PBS channels as well as increased demand for program management for the station's DTV channel.
