Ascent Media Group (AMG) has appointed John Phipps as Senior Vice President, Global Strategic Sales. Phipps' key responsibility will be to develop opportunities for the company's Viia suite of file-based services.
Phipps joins from Red Bee Media, where he was responsible for global sales of outsourced content management solutions. He has also held the posts of Vice President of Software Sales at Harris Corporation and several global sales management roles at Encoda, Arkemedia Technologies, Grass Valley and Tektronix.
"New distribution platforms require studios, content providers and aggregators to archive, repurpose and distribute media digitally for an expanding and complex multi-channel market," said Phipps. "Viia's combination of content management and global distribution services is a wonderful fit for this. I'm excited about the opportunity to build a dedicated sales team to bring these services to market."
