700 MHz Licensees Reminded They Must Do DTV Education
July 3, 2008
Don’t be surprised if you see articles and ads about the DTV transition sponsored by cell phone companies such as Verizon.
In a Public Notice (DA 08-1521) released late last week, the FCC reminded 700 MHz Band licensees holding license authorizations obtained in Auction 73 they must file quarterly reports indicating whether outreach efforts have been taken to educate consumers about the DTV transition and detail what specific efforts, if any, were undertaken. This requirement, established in the FCC’s DTV Consumer Initiative Report and Order, adopted Feb. 18, applies to each licensee holding a Wireless Communications Services license authorization in spectrum currently used by TV Channels 52, 53, 56, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62, 65 and 67.
See Public Notice (DA 08-1521) for details on how to file and the filing deadlines. For licenses on the channels listed, the first report deadline is July 10.
