Telairity to unveil BC8100 HD video encoder for airborne ENG

Telairity will introduce the BC8100 HD video encoder, which is designed for in-the-air, live HD news transmission from helicopters or fixed-wing aircraft, at the NAB Show.

Based on H.264/AVC encoding, the new unit provides more robust live transmissions from airborne news units. The BC8100's encoding scheme processes 720p/1080i HD video a quarter-frame at a time, rather than a full frame. That flexibility enables the mobile unit's signal to lock onto a transmitter four times faster than other approaches.

It also virtually eliminates common airborne ENG problems, such as RF shadowing from onboard video camera pods or big-city skyscrapers, and improves signal lock-on during long-distance transmissions.

See Telairity at the NAB Show in Booth SU10202.
